From MSN.com

Cringe \’krinj\ vb

    1. to draw in or contract one’s muscles involuntarily (as from cold or pain)

    2. to draw back, bend, crouch, etc., as when afraid; [to] shrink from something dangerous or painful

What makes a man cringe-worthy? For that matter, what makes us cringe in the first place? In a word: pain. Some people are just plain painful to watch, either because their actions are embarrassing or hurtful to themselves or the group or nation they represent, or because we recognize our own painful shortcomings or experiences in their behaviors.

1. Roger Clemens Roger should have kept his mouth shut. Or fired his lawyers. Or both. Clemens opened a can of worms following the release of baseball’s Mitchell Report, in which his name was mentioned 82 times, by going on a public relations rampage, certain that his good reputation and stout denial of wrongdoing would clear him of any and all allegations of steroids use. They didn’t.

2. Kanye WestWhen nominated for best album in 2006, he proclaimed that he’d “really have a problem” if he didn’t win the Grammy. (He didn’t.) Again in 2006, when his video for “Touch the Sky” failed to win at the MTV Europe Video Music Awards, he crashed the stage during Justice’s acceptance

3. Gordon Ramsay from “Hell’s Kitchen” But when he arrived on the Fox network with “Kitchen,” he went over to the dark side. Kicking over trash cans, throwing plates full of prepared food back on the grill or in chefs’ faces, telling his cooking minions they’re “[bleeping] [bleep] [bleeps]!”

4. Tom Cruise -Not only did Tom jump on Oprah’s couch, he nearly pinned her down in a weird hand tackle-hug!

5. Criss AngelMaybe it’s the tricks he does, which often involve his own impending death by the most grisly of means—on one recent show, he appeared to get run over by a steamroller while lying on broken glass. Maybe it’s his tragically Goth style sense, or the crazy-eyed stare he does in the midst of his illusions. Maybe it’s his hypnotic effect on women (he’s been linked to Cameron Diaz, Minnie Driver and Britney Spears, among others), who seem entranced by him despite his obvious ego issues

6. Simon Cowell - “That was absolutely dreadful.” “You are without question the worst dancer we’ve ever had on the show.” “You just killed my favorite song of all time.” C’mon Simon, tell us how you really feel!

  1. Amen to this. Except Simon. He seems real, and just happens to speak his mind; he actually seems really down-to-earth and KIND–yes, I said it. Being blunt doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a jerk–maybe socially stunted, that’s all, LOL.

Criss Angel is an egoistical jerk.

Ramsey is just putting on a show.. in reality (well, watch his other shows), he seems really kind and respectful of women.

Tom is just eww and ick and gross, LOL.

  2. i agree with this. i just don’t like these people especially Tom. i have also seen a show wherein he was interviewed by someone and the mike has a water squirting on it. then it went straight to his face. then he just can’t stop acting rude to that person. what a jerk.

  3. The top two for would be Kanye West and then Tom Cruise. Sad thing is that I actually liked some of Kanye’s songs, but his ego makes it hard for me to listen to him now, and I have heard much better rappers. I don’t get what he thinks makes him so much more special.

Tom Cruise is just completely out of his mind and brainwashed. I feel bad for him in a way as he is such a great actor. Stilll..VERY cringe-worthy.

I like Simon though, and not sure why he is on the list. He can always buff himself up a bit, but I get the feeling that he pretty much doesn’t care.
